Warranty Policy

Last updated: August 24, 2025

At Offshore Safety Equipment, we stand behind the quality of the products we sell and the services we provide. This Warranty Policy explains what is covered, what is not covered, and how to submit a claim. It applies to purchases made directly from offshoread.com and to services performed by our certified engineers and technicians in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. Looking for returns or refunds? See our Refund & Returns Policy.

1) What’s Covered

Products (Manufacturer Warranty)
New marine safety equipment (e.g., LSA, FFE, GMDSS, instruments) is covered by the original manufacturer’s warranty for defects in materials and workmanship, for the period specified by the OEM. As an authorized reseller/service station, we facilitate warranty claims with the OEM.

Services (Workmanship Warranty)
Services performed by Offshore Safety Equipment (e.g., inspections, servicing, calibration) are warranted against workmanship defects for 90 days from the service date. We will rework or adjust the serviced item if a workmanship issue is verified.

2) Warranty Periods (Guide)

  • Electronics / GMDSS / Navigation: As per OEM terms (commonly 12 months) unless stated otherwise.
  • LSA (liferafts, lifeboats, suits): OEM coverage applies; service tags/certificates remain valid until the next due date indicated.
  • FFE (CO₂/FM-200/Novec components, extinguishers): OEM parts warranty; annual service tags valid 12 months or as per class/OEM.
  • Calibration: Certificate validity is stated on the certificate; validity is not a guarantee of performance beyond specified conditions.

Note: The above are typical guidelines; final coverage depends on the specific OEM/product terms supplied at purchase.

3) What’s Not Covered

  • Consumables and perishables (e.g., pyrotechnics/flares, HRUs after expiry, batteries, CO₂ cartridges, chemicals/foam).
  • Normal wear and tear, cosmetic damage, corrosion due to environment or improper storage.
  • Damage caused by misuse, incorrect installation, unauthorized repair/alteration, or operation outside OEM specs.
  • Incidental or consequential losses (downtime, demurrage, charter penalties).
  • Products not purchased from offshoread.com or without proof of purchase/service.

4) How to Make a Warranty Claim

  1. Contact us: Email info.saudi@offshoread.com with subject “Warranty Claim – [Order/Invoice #]”.
  2. Provide details: Order/invoice number, product model & serial, vessel name & IMO (if applicable), clear fault description, photos/video, and the relevant certificate/report.
  3. RMA approval: We will issue an RMA number and return instructions if a physical assessment is needed.
  4. Ship the item: Use original packaging where possible. Remove data/SIM cards (for electronics) and back up VDR data if required.

We aim to assess claims within 5 business days from receipt of the item and documents.

5) Remedies

If a defect is confirmed under warranty, we (or the OEM) will, at our discretion:

  • Repair the item; or
  • Replace with the same or equivalent model; or
  • Issue a credit/refund where repair/replacement is not practical.

For workmanship warranty claims, we will rework or adjust the serviced item to correct the verified defect.

6) Shipping & Turnaround

  • Inbound shipping: Customer is responsible unless otherwise agreed.
  • Outbound shipping: Covered when a warranty repair/replacement is confirmed.
  • Turnaround: Depends on parts availability and OEM processing; we prioritize operationally critical equipment.

7) Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Offshore Safety Equipment is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of use, downtime, demurrage, or lost profits. Warranty remedies are limited to repair, replacement, or refund/credit as described above.
